
Sustainable Seafood and Nutrition Security (SSNS) is a curriculum development project co-funded by EU Erasmus+Programme to address the issue of sustainability of seafood production, supply and consumption through need-based higher education, and vocational training. The project is for 36 months starting from October 2017. It aims to build capacity of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and strengthen linkages among institutions and individuals.

Project activities include inception workshop, identification of needs and gap analysis in existing aquaculture / fisheries curricula and development of new curricula for SSNS program. It also includes accreditation of curricula. Project outcomes and achievements will be disseminated organizing a symposium and made available online.

Title: International Symposium on “Sustainable Seafood and Nutrition Security (SSNS)”

Goal: Contribute to achieve sustainable seafood and nutrition security through education and training.

Objectives:

Disseminate the outcomes of the project especially the curricula or offer a “showroom” of project outputs

Share experiences of innovative teaching and learning in the field of sustainable seafood and nutrition security

Exchange research and development (R&D) outcomes along the seafood value chain and ways to incorporate in curricula

Boost further networking activities, based on these results, in order to guarantee for sustainable use of the project outputs

Discuss further steps in developing new initiative to expand SSNS to the next level
-
Link to related initiatives at local, regional, national and international wide level

Develop a set of recommendations on sustainable seafood and nutrition security and their applications in teaching and learning

Registration fee – 50 Eo (20 Euro for Students) – to cover preparatory costs

Abstract:
Extended abstract of maximum two pages in the format of European / World Aquaculture Society Conferences. A hard copy proceeding of abstracts or a flash drive in PDF format will be produced and distributed as package along with conference bag and programs.
